Priscilla's
love for Guatemalan textiles - their history, tradition, construction,
patterns, and colors guided her extensive travels throughout Guatemala
in search of the best local hand-weavers. Their superior workmanship
is represented in her art quilts. Priscilla is excited to have
become a distributor of these fine textiles, suitable for quilting,
wearables, and home furnishings. She is offering a small but diverse
selection to you through her online catalog.
Priscilla is frequently asked if these textiles are really
handmade. "Yes, these are fine, high quality, labor-intensive
textiles. Everything about them is handmade- the thread is hand-knotted,
hand-dyed and then hand-woven, using ancestral foot-looms to
produce a fabric width of 34" to 36", a rarity in modern times.
Many of the designs, patterns and colors have been passed on
from generation to generation, for centuries. These textiles
are an heirloom in their own right, perfect for quilters, home
sewers, designers, and artists alike."
